Thanks to each of you for supporting my writing at Long Live the ABB and my work through a multitude of other channels, online and otherwise.
Having spent parts of four decades1 fundraising for nonprofits, I understand well why people give to efforts like mine.
It goes beyond the tangible gift you receive. You are supporting something you believe others will enjoy as well.
I recognize that my work here isn’t curing cancer, solving ALS, or drug/alcohol addiction2
But y’all are how I know what I’m writing has value beyond just me. Truth be told, I’m always writing for myself first. I’ll cite Butch on that point. “We’re up there playing for ourselves first and foremost. If I’m not getting myself off, how can I expect anyone else to get off on it?”
So what are the things I get off on?
I’m guessing it’s the same as you.
Things like…
Art & Creativity & Passion & Beauty
We need more of that in the world for sure.
I have been intentional about seeking it, particularly where I am spending my dollars. I want to invest in creative people whose ideas inspires me, who bring out the best in the world.
And that’s definitely the case for the two artists I worked with to create these pieces for paid subscribers: Peter Nogas/Psychodelik Pete3 and Brett Underhill/Porkchop Bob Studios.
And I’m bringing a little of their work to y’all as a thank you.
Ornaments turned out ABBsolutely beautiful
More than a few of y’all have asked about getting one of these hand-painted pieces from Psychodelik Pete. It’s a limited-edition set of 10 and I’ve got a sign-up form below if any are available.
