Bob, I LOVE this. I've been a Jaimoe & Butch fan since the first time I heard their first album. Two drummers playing...weaving a distinct sound that sizzled...no other band sizzled like that or had that kind of powerful swing. My wife and I are going to see Jaimoe with Alan's Band on Thursday night at the Keswick near Philly. I have a birthday present for him...the book "From John Brown to James Brown" signed by Ed the author to Jaimoe...and I will take my 1st edition Eat a Peach ( that I bought when I was 19 and playing in a band that covered the Allmans & the other Capricorn acts) ...that Butch signed for me at the first RRR in 2013..and ask him to sign it. I have permission from Alan and the Theatre to shoot two numbers, Midnight Rider is my request...I've asked Alan what he wants for the other. Do you have a suggestion ? It's been a hard year...but I'm back and on the trail.
THANKS Bob. I played in a 14 piece big band for a year in college at Towson U. We were the house band at a swanky hotel, playing Glen Miller & Tommy Dorsey charts...all of the cats in the band except the bass player and me were jazz majors at Towson playing in Hank Levy's A band...a lot of them went on to play with Stan Kenton. Maynard and Don Ellis. I wish we had done a few of these tunes like this...it was 1975-75.
Bob I just found out from CJ that I can meet Jaimoe, give him the book etc. They are restricting access to him to preserve his energy and health. I'm honored and feel like a teenager. Did I give you a copy of John Brown to James Brown ?

Good to have you back. I don't really know what I'd ask for... Maybe Liz Reed?
I've been listening to Band of Brothers...I love that big band sound with these songs.
This material is timeless. I'm feeling great...last 12 months were hard...moving on
From the 2nd of 2 Big Band of Brothers shows I saw. Includes Oteil! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6ntXaVD3Zk&list=PLIw4BHYOa3WIjdwQN3IjfggkTI-5VrYEt&index=2

I'm more excited about this than any other "gig" I've done recently.
