Hi! THanks for this piece. I feel like I missed "Eat A Peach", somewhere between Fillmore and Brothers and Sisters. Would welcome your thoughts.

My 2nd favorite ABB album only because the version of At Fillmore East that is burned into my brain includes Mountain Jam after Whipping Post.

Eat a Peach is a brilliant, brilliant record, even before you consider the circumstances of its recording. I've written a fair amount about it around here and in Play All Night, here's one take https://www.longlivetheabb.com/i/136377479/the-man-band-in-the-aftermath-of-duanes-death

The record is 3 different bands--the 5-man band, the original band live, and the original band captured best in the studio (Stand Back, Blue Sky, Little Martha)

I say the next time you're in a real music listening, undistracted mood, dive in.

Been an ABB fan since at least the 70's, but have found great joy and solace in TTB. I think the description you used to describe ABB could be applied equally to TTB. Regarding live at the fillmore, and the subsequent expansive reissue, Tom Dowd discusses how he "flew-in" different solos from different nights. I never quite understood how he would be able to do that given the live nature of the recording. Have you written about that, or could point me to some sources (I've read the liner notes many times but still!!) Thanks again!

yes to TTB, my favorite band going these days.

wrote extensively on Fillmore East here on substack and in Play All Night https://www.amazon.com/dp/0813069505

No dubs in the manner you’re describing. Only a patch of 2 versions of You Don’t Love me at about 7mins.

here’s the synopsis https://www.longlivetheabb.com/p/fillmore-east-as-artistic-statement
